36. Reimer Wenck , son of Johann Wenck and Christine Lohse, born 1835 Ditmarsken Schleswig Holstein, Denmark - died 1903 Hillside Queensland Australia. Reimer married Trincke Paysen in 1859 in Schleswig Holstein, Denmark. In 1878 Reimer and Trincke migrated with their children as did other German speaking Danes of Schleswig-Holstein in the years following the invasion of Denmark by Austrian and Prussian armies in 1864. They boarded the Charles Dickens (formerly SS Danube) departing from Hamburg bound for Rockhampton, Queensland. Reimer and Trinke are buried in Queensland together with their sons Adolph and Carl and two of their grandsons Gustav and Wallace. Link to J. Ship's manifest: Aged 16, could read and write, Protestant, single, from Middlesex, a silk weaver and shoemaker's boy, no previous convictions. Height: 4' 10": Complexion: ruddy and pockpitted. Hair: brown. Eyes: dark grey. Particular marks or scars: large scar ball of left thumb, round scar right shin. Arrived on "Susan" 9 July 1834. Sent to School of Corrections. 51. Hans Jochim Hamann 1835 -1919 Laborer, gold miner and entrepreneur from Seestadt, Schleswig, arrived from Denmark in 1857 on the ship Mcleod. He was the son of Hans Hamann and Anna Kuhl and he married Catharina Violet Louisa Rathjen spinster daughter of Hans Rathjen and Anna Muller from Homfeld Schleswig Holstein, Denmark. Being members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, they married in the Lutheran Parsonage, Sandhurst (Bendigo) Victoria, Australia on 12 May 1860. Their families most likely migrated from Denmark due to the First Schleswig War by Austria and Prussia. Catharina and Hans are buried in Runnymede Cemetery with two of their sons Hans and Albert.
